About the project..... Swimming Cities of Switchback Sea is a flotilla of seven intricately hand crafted vessels that will navigate the stretch of the Hudson River between Troy and the New York harbor this August 15th - September 7th. Imagined as a hybrid between boats and bits of land mass broken off and headed out to sea, the Switchback vessels will make stops in towns along the river bringing performances and music. Over the course of three weeks they will make their way toward their home port - an invented landscape tucked into a niche along the East River in Long Island City, Queens.

MOMO Interview
Learn more about the man, the myth, the legend here.
What is Borf, who is Borf, and when did this all start?
Borf was a close friend of mine named Bobby Fisher. He was the type of kid who'd give himself a nickname like "Borf." He killed himself in October 2003 when he was 16 years old. I think the first time I picked up a can of paint to do some illegal graffiti was in 2002 to write a generic anti-war slogan, then the content of my graffiti shifted after Borf died.
Hey all, just wanted to give a heads up we released a handful of prints and originals from MOMO, Borf, and Antonio Diaz this afternoon. In addition, for the rest of the week Paper Monster Blog will feature interviews with Borf as well as MOMO detailing what they have been up to and what is in store for each artist. The Borf interview goes up tomorrow followed by MOMO on Friday.
Cheers,
Paper Monster

Faile at the Tate
Here is a great shot of the Tate wall that Faile went to adorn a couple of weeks back, you can really get a feeling of how massive this is from above.
Word on the street is that a large Bunny Boy sculpture has since appeared beneath the mural, if anyone has some photos send them our way.

Portrait of Silvia Elena
If you are in the NYC area this weekend, swing by Honey Space to see the opening of Portrait of Silvia Elena, a collaboration between Swoon and Tennessee Jane Watson. The actual opening night is tomorrow from 6 - 8 pm, but the exhibition runs through July 5th. Below is the eerie description included in the press release:
"For their installation in Honey Space, Swoon and Tennessee have made use of a long-sealed sub-basement that has been revealed by a hole in the gallery floor. Entering the gallery, visitors encounter a near-empty ground floor space, with a shrine located near the back wall, dedicated to Silvia's memory. From the hole in the floor, sounds of Ramona speaking about her daughter, clearing dirt from Silvia's grave, and the desert winds emerge. Viewers are able to enter the hole, and descend rubble to this catacomb-like space, where Swoon's piece- extending over the back wall, ceiling and floor- is pasted, and candle-lit."
